Mission

Our mission

The mission of Indiana University’s American Sign Language (ASL) Program is to foster a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where students gain not only proficiency in ASL but also a deep understanding of Deaf culture, ASL linguistics, and the historical and contemporary experiences of the American Deaf community. Through our curriculum, we equip students with the knowledge and skills to engage meaningfully with Deaf individuals in their chosen professions, fostering effective communication and collaboration across a wide range of professional settings.
